Original WWII German Third Reich Marching Drum Hanger -Leather Strap

Original German Third Reich-era marching drum suspension hanger, or Trommelhaken, of the type worn by military and political musicians to support a marching drum from the belt. The hanger features a substantial shield-shaped metal face with a raised German eagle clutching a swastika, attached to an adjustable black leather suspension strap with period-style metal buckle.

The metal hanger retains an attractive dark gray aged patina with normal surface wear consistent with use and age. The reverse is plain and unmarked. The leather remains intact and shows appropriate age, surface wear and creasing while retaining the original adjustment buckle and attachment hardware.

These drum hangers were part of the equipment worn by German military and organizational marching bands during the Third Reich period. Numerous variations were produced, including eagle and shield-pattern hangers such as this example.

Overall a very attractive and increasingly difficult-to-find piece of original German WWII musical/marching equipment. Displays exceptionally well and would complement a collection of German uniforms, band equipment, drums or field gear.

Condition: Good original condition with age-related patina and leather wear as shown. No visible maker markings. Please examine all photographs carefully.
