Original WWII U.S. Army Canvas Water Bucket
Original WWII U.S. Army Canvas Water Bucket
Original World War II U.S. military collapsible canvas water bucket dated 1945. These heavy-duty canvas buckets were issued for field use and provided soldiers with a lightweight, easily portable means of carrying and dispensing water around camps, vehicles, field kitchens, and temporary positions.
This example is constructed from heavy olive-drab canvas with a reinforced circular base and sturdy webbing reinforcement straps crossing the underside. The front is boldly stencil marked “U.S.”, and the bucket retains the typical reinforced upper rim designed to help it hold its shape when filled.
The underside retains its original wartime manufacturer/date stencil, including the 1945 date, making this a desirable late-WWII production example.
Condition is good overall for an original field-used canvas item. The bucket shows honest military wear, age toning, scattered staining, fading, and surface soiling throughout. The canvas remains solid and the reinforcing straps are still present. The U.S. stencil remains strong and easily visible. No attempt has been made to clean or restore the piece.
A great original WWII field gear item that displays especially well with canteens, mess equipment, field kitchen gear, vehicle accessories, or a general U.S. Army display.
