Pre WWI P08 DWM 9mm
Pre WWI P08 DWM 9mm
Phenomenal German Pistole Parabellum (P08) Luger, manufactured by DWM (Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken) in 1911.
Key identifiers:
The chamber is dated 1911.
The toggle has the characteristic script DWM monogram
Multiple proof/acceptance marks on the right side of the receiver/extension: These include crowns over Gothic/script letters (common Imperial German inspection proofs for military contract guns from that era). The crown over script letters (appearing like stylized "W" or similar pairs) are typical Imperial acceptance stamps used during WWI production.
Barrel underside/base markings: 8,82 and repeated serial elements.
Frame front (visible in photos): Full serial ,180 C, which is unusually low for a 1911-dated military DWM.
Other visible stamps: Repeated 180 on the frame near the trigger/magazine well area, and possibly on small parts.
This appears to be a military contract Imperial German Army P08 from 1911. DWM produced these for the German military starting around 1908-1909 (when the P08 was officially adopted), with chamber dates indicating the year. Serial numbering reset annually or by blocks, so low 3-digit numbers (like 180) are possible in early production runs for a given year—especially if it's from the start of the 1911 block. They are not unheard of, though higher 4-digit are more common in surviving examples from mid-to-late year production.
The pistol is in what looks like original configuration:
Standard 4-inch barrel (typical military length).
No stock lug (early military models often lacked them until later in WWI).
9mm Parabellum caliber (standard for P08 military from ~1908 onward).
