Add a rare piece of military history to your collection with this pair of inert .50 BMG SLAP (Saboted Light Armor Penetrator) rounds, manufactured by the Canadian Cartridge Company in 1990. These rounds, marked with headstamps “C C 9 0 8” and “C C 9 0 9,” were produced at the height of the late Cold War era and likely saw use during the Gulf War (1990–1991) by NATO forces.

This set includes:

• M903 SLAP (Yellow Tip): The standard SLAP round, designed for superior armor penetration. Featuring a saboted tungsten penetrator, this round was capable of defeating up to 34mm of rolled homogeneous armor (RHA) at 500 meters, making it a formidable anti-materiel round for the M2 Browning machine gun.
• M962 SLAP-T (Red Tip): The tracer variant of the SLAP round, combining the same armor-piercing capability with a bright tracer element for visibility during firing. Ideal for long-range engagements, this round allowed gunners to track their shots while delivering devastating penetration.

Both rounds are held together by an original M19 disintegrating link, as used in belt-fed weapons like the M2 Browning machine gun. The rounds show authentic signs of age, with some rust and patina, adding to their historical character. They have been professionally deactivated (with visible drill holes in the casings) and are completely inert, making them safe for display or collection purposes.

Historical Context:Developed in the 1980s, SLAP rounds were a cutting-edge advancement in .50 BMG ammunition, designed to give NATO forces an edge against light armor, such as armored personnel carriers and helicopters. These rounds were widely used during the Gulf War, where they proved effective against Iraqi vehicles and fortifications. Manufactured by the Canadian Cartridge Company, a key supplier for NATO forces, these rounds are a tangible piece of military history from a pivotal era.

Condition:These rounds are in good condition for their age, with visible rust and wear that reflect their historical use and storage. The colored tips (yellow and red) are intact, and the M19 link is fully functional, making this set a striking display piece for any military antiques collection.
