Post-War Reproduction German Gestapo (Geheime Staatspolizei) ID Badge-M9/86 Pattern
Post-War Reproduction German Gestapo (Geheime Staatspolizei) ID Badge-M9/86 Pattern
A well-made post-war reproduction of the infamous Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo) identification badge, patterned after one of the most recognizable Third Reich police warrant discs. Constructed in an oval form with an antiqued finish, the obverse features the German national eagle above a wreath and swastika with the marking “M9/86.” The reverse is stamped “GEHEIME STAATSPOLIZEI” and includes a blank panel intended to represent an identification number.
The Gestapo served as the secret state police of Nazi Germany from 1933 until the end of World War II. Authentic identification badges were carried by officers when identifying themselves during official duties. Because of their historical significance and extreme rarity, original examples are highly sought after and command substantial prices. This example represents a later collector reproduction inspired by those historic badges.
This piece is ideal as a historical display item, educational reference, reenactment accessory, or addition to a collection of reproduction WWII militaria.
