Pre-WWII Army Medical Manual-Named Copy-1941 U.S. War Dept Issue

This was a comprehensive working reference for Medical Department soldiers and covers a broad range of subjects, including:

• Rules of land warfare
• Basic anatomy and physiology
• Minor surgery and medical aid
• Nursing and ward management
• Applied hygiene and sanitation
• Administration
• Medical aid in chemical warfare
• Veterinary food inspection

The chemical-warfare medical section is particularly interesting from a historical standpoint, showing the type of training Army medical personnel were receiving immediately before America’s entry into WWII.

This example appears to be an original March 5, 1941 issue, rather than a later reproduction. The front cover has a period handwritten identification reading approximately “Z-1471 Leon N. Zamrowski” [I would keep the spelling qualified unless another page confirms it]. That named attribution gives it a little more character, and researching the soldier could potentially add value if you can establish his WWII service.

Condition is good used condition for an 85-year-old field manual. The original paper covers remain present with age toning, handling wear, edge/corner wear, creasing and some separation/wear along the spine. Interior pages shown remain quite legible. I would state “appears complete but not page-counted” unless you’ve personally checked all 486 pages.
