Raytheon Type 2J32 WWII-Era U.S. Navy Radar Magnetron / Microwave Tube – Damaged Glass

Original Raytheon Manufacturing Co. Type 2J32 microwave radar tube assembly, serial/production number D3408. The unit carries prominent yellow Raytheon markings and additional U.S. Navy inspection/property-style markings, making it a particularly interesting example of early American military radar technology.

The 2J-series tubes were specialized microwave components associated with the development and operation of wartime radar equipment. This example has the characteristic heavy resonant-cavity construction with multiple cooling fins, large mounting flange, glass vacuum envelope, and projecting electrode connections. These are dramatically different from ordinary radio tubes and make excellent displays alongside WWII radar sets, oscilloscopes, aircraft electronics, and Signal Corps/Navy equipment.

Condition is as shown with age-related finish wear, oxidation and storage grime. Important: the glass around one of the projecting electrode terminals is broken/chipped, clearly visible in the photographs. Because of this damage, the tube should be considered nonfunctional and is being offered strictly as a historical/display or parts example. The large upper glass envelope remains present.

A desirable piece of early microwave engineering with excellent visual appeal despite the damage.
