Offered here is a classic Remington Model 722 bolt-action rifle chambered in .222 Remington, one of the most respected early varmint cartridges ever developed.

Manufactured by Remington Arms Company in Ilion, New York, the Model 722 was produced from 1948–1962 and served as the short-action counterpart to the Model 721. These rifles were the direct predecessors to the legendary Remington Model 700, making them an important part of Remington’s bolt-action development history.

Chambered in .222 Remington, this rifle represents one of the most accurate and influential varmint cartridges of the 20th century. Introduced in 1950, the .222 Remington quickly became a favorite among benchrest shooters and varmint hunters due to its exceptional accuracy and mild recoil.

This example retains its classic sporting configuration with hardwood stock, blued barrel and receiver, and factory bolt-action design. The rifle shows honest handling wear consistent with a vintage field rifle but remains a desirable and collectible example of Remington’s early bolt-action production.
