Repro British Cap Plates & Butler’s Ranger’s Insignia Grouping

Attractive reproduction military insignia grouping featuring two British grenadier-style cap plates and three Butler’s Rangers brass insignia pieces, accompanied by two loose mounting bars.

The two curved cap plates feature black-painted backgrounds with raised silver-tone decoration depicting a crowned lion, royal crown, “GR” initials, and ornate scrollwork beneath the motto “NEC ASPERA TERRENT.” Their striking design makes them well suited for a British Revolutionary War–themed display or reenactment headgear project. These are separate front plates, not complete caps.

The Butler’s Rangers pieces include two oval brass plates decorated with a crown and intertwined “GR” cypher, plus a crowned openwork circular badge. All three bear the Butler’s Rangers name. One oval plate is stamped “EFA 1975” on the reverse. Mounting hooks, posts, and tabs are visible on the backs, with two separate mounting bars included.

Condition shows chipped paint, surface scratches, tarnish, and scattered green oxidation. The plates retain strong decorative detail. Some mounting tabs are bent, and hardware completeness is not guaranteed. Please examine the photographs for condition and included components.

Sold together as a reproduction insignia lot. No claim of original eighteenth-century manufacture or military service use is made. A distinctive grouping for collectors of reenactment equipment, British military heraldry, and Loyalist-themed memorabilia.
