Reproduction WWII German Heer Panzer/Assault-Gun Style Totenkopf Collar Tabs-Pair of 2

Offered is a matching pair of German Army-style armored troop collar tabs featuring the distinctive Totenkopf (death’s-head) skull-and-crossbones insignia.

Each tab is constructed with a field-gray/green wool face surrounded by contrasting red wool piping. Mounted to the center of each tab is a silver-colored metal Panzer Totenkopf consisting of a detailed skull above crossed bones.

The reverse shows traditional folded wool construction with an opening exposing the interior backing material. The metal skull insignia appear to be secured through the tabs by metal prongs.

The red Waffenfarbe used with this style of Panzer collar tab is associated with Panzer artillery/assault-gun (Sturmgeschütz) personnel, rather than the better-known pink-piped Panzer troop tabs.

Authenticity

I would currently classify these as reproduction/reenactor examples unless professionally authenticated. Modern reproductions are made with field-gray wool, red piping and aluminum-style metal skulls very similar to what we see here. 

The skull design itself is historically appropriate for German Panzer collar insignia, so these aren’t necessarily a “fantasy” design—the question is when this particular pair was manufactured. Original Panzer skulls existed in several variants and construction types.
