Savage Model 342 .22 Hornet – Bolt Action – Side-Mount Drilled

Savage Model 342 bolt-action rifle chambered in .22 Hornet. These older Savage centerfire bolt rifles have developed a strong following as classic American varmint and small-game rifles, and the .22 Hornet chambering remains especially desirable.

This example is in good used condition with honest handling wear consistent with age and field use. The blued metal retains a generally attractive appearance with light thinning and scattered marks. The hardwood stock is solid and shows typical scratches, dings, and finish wear but remains very presentable overall.

The rifle retains its factory-style iron sights and detachable magazine setup. As shown in the photos, the receiver has been drilled and tapped for a side-mount scope base, making it a good candidate for someone who wants to mount period-style optics while keeping the rifle’s vintage character.

The barrel is clearly marked .22 Hornet, and the receiver is marked Savage Model 342. Overall, this is a solid, complete-looking vintage Savage in one of the most interesting small-caliber centerfire cartridges.
