Sharpe, London Percussion Pistol
c.1835–1850
Single-shot .58 caliber brass-barreled percussion pistol marked “SHARPE – LONDON” with London proof marks. Converted from an earlier flintlock design, these pistols were carried by British naval and merchant officers for personal defense at sea. Brass construction prevented corrosion in marine conditions. These were also used in trades with native Americans.
Original brass-tipped wooden ramrod intact — a rare survivor.
