Smith & Wesson M-1900 Police Leg Irons/Prisoner Shackles-Houston Maine-Heavy Chain

Original Smith & Wesson Model M-1900 leg irons, manufactured in the United States at Smith & Wesson’s Houlton, Maine facility.

These are heavy-duty law-enforcement/corrections restraints consisting of two large adjustable ankle cuffs connected by a substantial welded-link steel chain. The M-1900 was designed as a prisoner transport and security restraint and uses Smith & Wesson’s ratcheting cuff and locking system.

One cuff is clearly factory marked:

The opposite cuff carries the Smith & Wesson trademark logo along with the company’s trademark registration marking.

This example remains in very nice used condition. The metal retains a clean satin/nickel appearance with scattered light scratches, handling marks and minor surface wear consistent with previous use and storage. The heavy connecting chain and attachment rings appear intact.

An interesting piece of American law-enforcement and corrections equipment and a great addition to a police, prison, law-enforcement, Smith & Wesson, or restraint collection.
