Springfield PDP Defender
Springfield PDP Defender
This was part of Springfield's earlier "PDP" (Professional Defensive Pistol or similar factory-compensated) line, often referred to as the Defender PDP or 1911 Defender PDP. These were factory-compensated 1911s with a ported barrel/compensator setup to reduce muzzle rise and improve follow-up shots, popular in that era for competition or defensive use before compensators fell out of mainstream favor.
"SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" and "MODEL 1911-A1" on the slide, with "GENESEO IL. USA" and the serial NM147xxx
Two-tone finish: parkerized or matte black slide/frame with stainless/matte silver controls, barrel, and accents.
Checkered grips.
The prominent ported/compensated muzzle is the defining trait—it's a tapered cone dual-port compensator from the factory, not aftermarket.
These were built on the standard 1911-A1 platform but with the comp for flatter shooting. They weren't current-production "Mil-Spec" models (those are basic GI-style without comps, like the modern Defend Your Legacy series). The PDP Defender was a limited-run/specialty model from the 90s, sometimes discussed in 1911 forums as cool collectibles or fun shooters, though parts/spring tuning can be picky due to the comp.
Comes with grip mounted scope base and Hogue competition style holster.
