Stevens Model 44 Single Shot Rifle – .25 Rimfire – 25” Heavy Round Barrel
Stevens Model 44 Single Shot Rifle – .25 Rimfire – 25” Heavy Round Barrel
Offered here is a classic Stevens Model 44 single-shot rifle chambered in the scarce .25 Rimfire cartridge. This rifle features an attractive 25-inch heavy round barrel and remains in good honest used condition for its age, making it an excellent addition to any collection of early American sporting arms.
The rifle retains a pleasing brown-gray patina across the receiver while the barrel has aged to an attractive even finish. The walnut buttstock and forearm are solid and show normal handling wear accumulated over decades of careful use. Most notably, the rifle has an excellent bore, a feature that is becoming increasingly difficult to find on surviving .25 Rimfire rifles.
The Stevens Model 44 earned its reputation as one of America’s finest light sporting rifles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Chambered in the now-obsolete .25 Stevens Rimfire, these rifles have become increasingly desirable due to their historical significance and the limited number that remain in high original condition.
