This example bears a DSA (Defense Supply Agency) contract marking, placing production in the Vietnam War era. The M-1956 Load Carrying Equipment system was introduced in the late 1950s and became the standard field gear for U.S. Army soldiers throughout the Vietnam War before gradually being replaced by the ALICE system in the 1970s. 

Constructed from durable olive drab cotton webbing, the belt features the classic three-row eyelet design allowing attachment of canteens, ammunition pouches, first aid kits, butt packs, entrenching tools, and other field equipment. The H-style suspenders distribute weight evenly across the shoulders and retain their original metal attachment hooks and support rings, making this an excellent foundation for a Vietnam War field gear display or reenactment.
