U.S. Bronze Star Medal Presentation Set

This is a U.S. Bronze Star Medal presentation set, and from the case style, ribbon construction, and overall appearance, I would describe it as a WWII-era or immediate post-WWII Bronze Star set, pending confirmation from the brooch hardware and any markings on the medal.

The Bronze Star Medal was established in 1944 and awarded for heroic or meritorious achievement or service in connection with military operations against an armed enemy. The front features the large raised five-pointed bronze star with the smaller star at center. The reverse carries the circular inscription “HEROIC OR MERITORIOUS ACHIEVEMENT.” The red ribbon with narrow white edging and central blue/white/blue stripe is the correct Bronze Star ribbon.
