U.S. M1 Pattern Military Helmet W/ Liner-Vietnam/Cold War Era
The liner is constructed from reinforced composite material, with a distinctive yellowish woven-fiber pattern visible across the interior. The shell retains its olive-drab military finish and multiple exterior rivets securing the internal suspension assembly.
Inside is an olive-green web suspension system arranged in a traditional multi-strap configuration. The webbing is secured by metal retainers and rivets positioned around the interior circumference.
Also present is an olive-green woven chinstrap assembly with metal attachment and adjustment hardware, displaying age-related wear and fraying.
Of particular interest are the various black ink-stamped markings visible on the inside of the liner. These include partially legible military-style identification and specification markings, along with a prominent handwritten or stenciled “76” and additional smaller markings.
These markings add character and collector interest, although the exact manufacturer and production date have not yet been positively identified.

Historical Background:
The M1 helmet design served American military personnel for more than four decades, beginning in World War II and continuing through the Korean War, Vietnam War, and later Cold War conflicts.
The removable liner was an essential component of the M1 system, providing suspension and comfort underneath the protective outer steel helmet. Liners could also be worn independently during training, administrative duties, military police assignments, and other noncombat activities.
Throughout its production history, the M1 liner underwent numerous changes in construction, suspension materials, and hardware. These variations make surviving examples an interesting field of study for militaria collectors.
Condition:
Good vintage military-surplus condition overall.
The exterior retains its olive-drab finish with scattered scratches, small paint losses, and minor surface imperfections. The interior displays visible age-related discoloration and wear, with the reinforced fiber construction and military-style markings remaining readily apparent.
The suspension webbing is present and appears generally intact, with some age-related wear. The chinstrap exhibits noticeable fraying and wear. A separate leather sweatband is not apparent in the photographs.
This listing is for the helmet liner pictured. No separate steel combat shell is included.
The precise manufacturer, military origin, and production date have not been conclusively authenticated.
An excellent addition to any collection of U.S. military equipment, Cold War militaria, Vietnam-era collectibles, or historic military headgear.
