Offered is an original U.S. M3 Fighting Knife manufactured by Camillus Cutlery Co. during World War II. The blade is clearly marked “U.S. M3 CAMILLUS”, identifying it as one of the approximately 2.6 million M3 fighting knives produced between 1943 and 1944 for American forces. Camillus was one of the primary wartime contractors.

Designed for close combat, the M3 became one of the most recognizable U.S. fighting knives of WWII. It saw extensive service with Army infantry, airborne troops, Rangers, armored crews, and Marines before later influencing the design of the M4, M5, M6, and M7 bayonets.

This example retains its original stacked leather washer grip with steel crossguard and steel pommel. The blade retains much of its original dark parkerized finish with honest service wear, light sharpening, and scattered oxidation consistent with military use.

Included is a correct M8A1 fiberglass scabbard with olive drab canvas hanger and steel throat. The M8A1 was widely issued as the replacement scabbard for the M3 beginning late in WWII and throughout post-war service.
