Description:
Original U.S. Model 1841 percussion rifle produced at Harper’s Ferry Armory.
The Model 1841 rifle is the shorter, scarcer configuration compared to the 40” musket, and represents a key transitional U.S. military arm bridging flintlock-era designs and the later Model 1861 Springfield. Harper’s Ferry production is especially desirable due to the armory’s destruction in 1861, permanently limiting output.
This rifle retains correct brass furniture, patchbox, sling swivels, and Maynard primer components. Metal surfaces show an even, untouched patina; stock is solid with expected military service wear and no major structural issues noted.
Condition:
Good original condition with honest age and wear. Mechanically intact; surfaces exhibit period oxidation consistent with mid-19th-century service use.
