U.S. Model 1917 Eddystone Sporter .30-06 – Custom Single-Shot – Receiver Peep Sight

U.S. Model 1917 rifle manufactured by Eddystone and chambered in .30-06 Springfield, extensively sporterized from its original military configuration. The military stock has been replaced with a nicely shaped sporting stock featuring a raised cheekpiece, while the original military sights have been removed/replaced. A receiver-mounted adjustable aperture/peep sight is installed at the rear with a replacement front sight.

This example has also been converted/configured as a single-shot rifle rather than using the original M1917 internal magazine system. The replacement stock appears to have originally been inlet for a magazine-fed sporting rifle, accounting for the stock configuration even though this rifle itself is presently set up as a single shot.

Metal shows an even aged finish with scattered handling wear and patina. Walnut stock is in good used condition with normal marks from use. An interesting old-school sporting conversion built around the exceptionally strong U.S. Model 1917 Eddystone action.
