U.S. Purple Heart Medal in Original Presentation Case
U.S. Purple Heart Medal in Original Presentation Case
Description
Authentic United States Purple Heart Medal housed in its original government presentation case. The Purple Heart is one of America’s most recognized and historic military decorations, awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who were wounded or killed in action while serving their country.
This example features the classic heart-shaped medal with purple enamel center and profile of George Washington, suspended from the correct purple ribbon with white edge stripes. The medal retains its original brooch and pin hardware.
The medal is housed in the period black leatherette presentation case with gold lettering reading “Purple Heart.” The interior retains its original satin and velvet lining designed to display the medal and lapel pin.
The Purple Heart traces its origins to the Badge of Military Merit created by George Washington in 1782, making it the oldest American military award still in use today. Nearly two million have been awarded to American servicemen and women for combat wounds.
