U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903 .30-06 – USMC Sedgley 7-43 Barrel

Very attractive U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903 bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield, serial 1,076,654. Based on Springfield Armory production records, that serial falls into 1919 production. 

This rifle is particularly interesting because it is fitted with a Sedgley-produced barrel marked “U.S.M.C. / 7-43”, indicating one of the replacement barrels manufactured under Marine Corps contract during World War II. The bore on this example is described as excellent, which is a major plus on a service rifle of this age.

The rifle remains in full military configuration and shows very good overall condition for an original U.S. service rifle. The walnut stock has the expected handling marks, dents and scattered service wear while retaining an attractive aged finish. A faint circled “P” firing proof remains visible on the stock, along with the additional “M M 99” marking at the butt. The rifle retains military sights, sling swivels, stacking swivel and a period-style web sling. Metal surfaces display an attractive aged military finish with normal wear consistent with service and arsenal use.
