U.S. Springfield Model 1842 Musket – .69 Caliber – 1854 Dated Lock Plate
U.S. Springfield Model 1842 Musket – .69 Caliber – 1854 Dated Lock Plate
Original U.S. Springfield Model 1842 percussion musket chambered in .69 caliber. Lock plate is marked Springfield 1854 with eagle proof, making this a desirable pre-Civil War U.S. military musket.
This example shows honest age and service wear throughout, with dark patina to the metal, visible markings, original-style ramrod, barrel bands, rear sight, and full-length walnut stock. The wood shows expected handling marks, dings, finish loss, and wear from age. Metal has scattered oxidation and patina, giving it a strong untouched antique appearance.
The Model 1842 was the first standard U.S. percussion musket and saw use before and during the Civil War. A great display piece for a Civil War, Mexican War, or U.S. martial arms collection.
Condition:
Good antique condition overall. Lock markings are visible. Wood has wear, scratches, and age marks. Metal shows patina/oxidation. Appears complete from photos. Bore/function should be checked before any firing.
