Unmarked .50 Caliber Percussion “Short Rifle” – Curly Maple Stock – Functional Lock
This attractive traditional muzzleloading rifle is a classic American-style percussion short rifle chambered in .50 caliber. While unmarked as to maker, the rifle features many desirable characteristics including a highly figured curly maple stock, octagonal barrel, brass furniture, double set triggers, and a functioning percussion lock.
The rifle displays excellent tiger stripe figure throughout the stock, giving it exceptional visual appeal. Brass trigger guard, patchbox, and sideplate complement the dark patina of the barrel and lock assembly. The double set trigger arrangement allows the shooter to use either a standard pull or set the rear trigger for a lighter target-style release.
The percussion lock functions properly and the rifle presents well as both a shooter and display piece. Whether built from a quality kit or crafted by a skilled gunsmith, it captures the appearance of the classic Pennsylvania/Kentucky-style sporting rifles that remain popular among black powder enthusiasts today.
