Battle of The Bulge-Paratrooper Captured & Signed Nazi Flag
This Nazi flag was captured during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II by Lieutenant Colonel Wild Bill Boyle, the commanding officer of the 1st Battalion, 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Accompanying the flag are patches representing both Colonel Boyle's unit and the 13th Armored Division. Historical records indicate that these two units fighting together in the theater only once, at the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg. The Luftwaffe patches and armbands displayed here were likely seized alongside the flag, serving as a poignant reminder of the fierce combat that took place during this pivotal moment in the war.
Lieutenant Colonel Boyle was honorably awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and two Purple Hearts in recognition of his courageous leadership of his troops during World War II.
