WWII German K98 Mauser Bayonet by Mundlos with Steel Scabbard & Web Frog
German S84/98 III bayonet manufactured by Mundlos for the Mauser K98k rifle. The blade is clearly stamped “MUNDLOS” on one side and numbered “322” over the letter “a” on the opposite side. Features a fullered steel blade, dark ribbed grip panels secured by two screws, steel crossguard, and bird’s-head pommel with attachment button. Mundlos is a documented manufacturer of this bayonet pattern.
Includes the pictured steel scabbard and olive-colored web belt frog with handle retaining strap. The frog’s maker, date, and originality have not been confirmed, and matching scabbard numbers are not visible in the photographs.
The blade retains substantial dark finish with scabbard rub marks, scratches, and scattered discoloration. The crossguard and pommel show brown patina, oxidation, and pitting. Grip panels retain distinct ribbing with visible handling wear. The scabbard has extensive surface corrosion and finish loss, while the web frog shows fading, staining, and fraying around the retaining holes. Attachment mechanism has not been function tested.
A recognizable German military bayonet with a clear maker marking and accompanying carrying rig. Please review all photographs for condition.
