Winchester Model 1897 12 Gauge Pump Action Shotgun – 1910 Manufacture – 30” Barrel – Full Choke
Original Winchester Model 1897 pump-action shotgun chambered in 12 gauge, manufactured in 1910. Designed by legendary firearms inventor John Moses Browning, the Model 1897 is one of Winchester’s most recognizable early repeating shotguns and an important piece of American firearms history.
This example features a 30-inch barrel with a factory-marked FULL choke, exposed hammer, tubular magazine, grooved walnut slide handle, and traditional walnut buttstock. Serial number 497154 is matching on the receiver and barrel assembly.
The shotgun remains in good used condition for its age, retaining attractive bluing with areas of finish wear, light oxidation, and scattered handling marks. The walnut furniture displays typical scratches, dings, and finish wear from more than a century of use. The wood remains tight and secure without noticeable looseness.
The Model 1897 was widely used by American hunters, sportsmen, law enforcement, and military personnel. Its exposed hammer and distinctive pump-action design made it one of the most successful repeating shotguns of its era.
This is an attractive, early-production Winchester with matching serial numbers, a desirable 30-inch full-choke barrel, and good overall presentation for a firearm manufactured over 115 years ago.
