Step back into history with this authentic Vietnam War-era U.S. Military General Purpose First Aid Kit, a rare and well-preserved piece of military medical history. Bearing the stock number 6545-922-1200, this kit was issued by the U.S. Army and distributed through the Louisville, Kentucky Depot, as indicated by the original label on the lid. Designed for use by American troops during the Vietnam War (1955–1975), this kit would have been a critical piece of equipment for soldiers in the field, providing immediate care for injuries in the jungles and battlefields of Southeast Asia.

Housed in a rugged olive-drab metal case, this kit is built to withstand the harsh conditions of combat. The exterior features the iconic U.S. military medical insignia—a caduceus with the letters “US”—along with visible wear, including paint chips and scratches, that tell the story of its service.

Inside, the kit retains several of its original contents, including:

  • Bandage Compresses (4” x 4”)
  • Petrolatum Gauze for burn treatment
  • Tourniquet
  • First Aid Dressing

These items are still in their original packaging, showcasing the military’s meticulous design and labeling from the era. The interior of the lid features a detailed instruction sheet, providing step-by-step guidance for treating a range of injuries, from sprains and fractures to burns and hemorrhages. This practical feature reflects the kit’s purpose: enabling soldiers with minimal medical training to provide life-saving care in the heat of battle.

Labeled as a General Purpose First Aid Kit with 12 Aid Units, this piece was designed to treat a small unit or squad, making it a versatile and essential tool for medics and soldiers alike during the Vietnam War. The stock number and depot markings add to its authenticity, placing it firmly in the 1960s–1970s timeframe, a period when the U.S. military relied on such kits to support troops in one of the most challenging conflicts of the 20th century.

Condition: This kit is in excellent condition for its age, with all wear consistent with field use. The metal case shows signs of service, including minor paint loss and surface scratches, which only enhance its historical character. The contents appear to be original and untouched, though they are expired and should not be used for modern medical purposes. This kit is being sold as a collectible and display piece.

Why It’s Special: Vietnam War-era medical kits are highly sought after by collectors of military memorabilia, especially those with original contents and clear provenance. This kit’s connection to the Louisville, Kentucky Depot and its well-preserved state make it a standout addition to any collection of Vietnam War artifacts, military medical history, or U.S. Army gear. Whether you’re a historian, a reenactor, or a collector, this first aid kit offers a tangible link to the bravery and resilience of American soldiers during the Vietnam War.

Note: Due to the age of the medical supplies, this kit is sold as a historical artifact and should not be used for actual medical treatment. All items are sold as-is, with no guarantee of functionality.
