Vintage CASE Meat Cleaver-Warranted Forged Steel-Antique Butcher Cleaver

Offered is an excellent early Case meat/butcher cleaver, featuring a heavy forged steel blade marked “WARRANTED / FORGED STEEL.”

This is a substantial old commercial-style cleaver with a broad, thick forged blade, hanging hole at the upper corner, heavy metal bolster/ferrule, and dark handle. These early Case butcher and kitchen tools are considerably harder to encounter than the company’s pocket knives and make excellent additions to a Case cutlery collection.

The blade retains an attractive, untouched aged appearance with scattered oxidation, staining, scratches, and darkened patina from decades of use and storage. The cutting edge shows normal sharpening and use but remains quite full. The handle is solid-looking and displays honest age and wear. The metal bolster/ferrule has developed a dark brown patina.

This piece has not been polished or aggressively cleaned, which is desirable for an antique collectible of this type.

A great early piece of American cutlery history and an unusual item for a Case/Case XX collector, antique kitchen collection, butcher-shop display, or general advertising and cutlery collection.

Condition: Good antique used condition with considerable original character. Surface oxidation, patina, scratches, staining and general wear are present as expected from an old working butcher’s tool. Please see photographs for exact condition.
