Vintage Raytheon JAN-CRP-2J51 Tunable Radar Magnetron with Mounting Board

Vintage American-made Raytheon 2J51 magnetron assembly featuring its external magnets, large graduated tuning gear, worm-drive mechanism, and glass tube envelope. The 2J51 is a mechanically tunable pulse magnetron designed to operate from approximately 8.5 to 9.6 GHz, representing an interesting example of early microwave radar technology. 

Marked “RAYTHEON,” “JAN-CRP-2J51,” “F0524AN,” and “MADE IN U.S.A.” in yellow lettering. The assembly is secured to a wooden support board with a circular opening, mounting bolts, and cushioning pads. Its exposed gearing and visible internal tube construction make it an attractive technical display piece.

Shows paint loss along the magnet edges, surface scratches, metal oxidation, and wear and staining to the wooden board. The glass envelope appears intact in the photographs, although its vacuum integrity and electrical condition are unknown. Tuning mechanism has not been function-tested. Offered untested for collection, display, or restoration, with only the components pictured included.
