Vintage Raytheon USAF 4J63 Tunable Radar Jamming Magnetron on Wooden Mount
Vintage American-made Raytheon 4J63 magnetron clearly marked “USAF-4J-63,” “A0975D,” and “RAYTHEON MADE IN U.S.A.” The 4J63, also identified as the QK62 type, is a tunable magnetron used in radar jamming and electronic countermeasure equipment.
Features a black-painted metal body, integral magnet assembly, prominent cooling fins, flanged output connection, and exposed tuning gear with worm-drive adjustment. The opposite end has an eight-pin electrical base and a protective metal sleeve with openings revealing portions of the internal construction.
Secured to a wooden support base with fitted blocks, metal retaining straps, and wing-nut hardware. The open mounting arrangement provides an excellent view of the mechanism, making it an attractive display piece for collectors of military electronics, Air Force equipment, and early microwave technology.
Shows scattered scratches, small paint chips, dust, and tarnish to exposed metal. Yellow manufacturer and USAF markings remain readily legible. Wooden base shows handling wear and handwritten identification markings. Exact manufacture date and original equipment assignment have not been established.
Untested; electrical operation, vacuum integrity, and tuning movement have not been verified. Offered for collection, display, or restoration. Includes the magnetron and wooden mounting base pictured.
