Vintage WWII U.S. Army A.M. Co Military Whistle-“Brass Pea Whistle” -(c.1940)

Original vintage U.S. military whistle, manufactured by S.M. Co (Signal Manufacturing Company) and clearly marked “MADE IN U.S.A.” on the body. These whistles were widely issued to U.S. Army personnel during the WWII era, particularly used by Military Police, NCOs, and drill instructors for command and signaling purposes.

This example is a classic pea whistle design, constructed of brass with a steel or darkened top cap. The internal pea is present and visible through the side opening. The reverse features the correct S.M. Co maker’s mark along with a shield-style emblem, a known wartime manufacturer of military whistles and signaling equipment.

The whistle shows a strong, untouched original patina, consistent with age and service use. There is honest wear including surface oxidation, minor discoloration, and handling marks, but no structural damage. The ring for a lanyard or chain is intact.
