Walther P.38 “ac 45” – 9mm – Matching WWII Pistol with Original 1944 Holster

This is a very desirable late-war Walther P.38 chambered in 9mm Luger, manufactured by Walther in 1945 and marked “ac 45.” The “ac” manufacturer code identifies Walther, while the “45” indicates 1945 production. These late-war examples are particularly collectible because they represent the final period of German wartime P.38 manufacture.

The pistol appears to retain its matching-numbered major components, with the exception of the magazine as noted. The serial visible in the photographs appears to be 1068a, with matching partial numbers visible on associated components. The pistol retains appropriate wartime inspection/proof markings and the characteristic black ribbed grips.

Condition is good overall for a late-war military pistol. The metal retains a substantial amount of finish with visible edge wear, handling marks and scratches consistent with service use. The grips remain intact and present well. The pistol has the classic late-war appearance collectors generally prefer over refinished examples.

Also included is an original German P.38 leather holster. The inside is clearly maker-marked and dated 1944, with additional Waffenamt-style inspection markings visible. The leather shows honest wartime/period use with surface wear and crazing, but the body, flap, stitching and belt loops remain intact. An original WWII P.38 holster is a meaningful addition to this package; comparable late-war holsters by themselves can bring several hundred dollars depending on maker and condition.
