Description
This is an original World War II-era Winchester M1 Carbine chambered in .30 Carbine, featuring an Underwood barrel dated 11-43 and a combination of wartime components and later military arsenal updates.
The M1 Carbine was one of the most widely issued American firearms of World War II, serving alongside the M1 Garand in nearly every theater of the conflict. Winchester was one of the original manufacturers of the M1 Carbine, making Winchester-marked examples especially interesting to collectors of American military history.
This example has undergone a postwar arsenal refurbishment, with updates including the later adjustable rear sight and barrel band with bayonet lug. These modifications are characteristic of U.S. military rebuild programs that modernized existing carbines for continued service.
The rifle remains in good military surplus condition, displaying an attractive walnut stock with visible military cartouches and inspection markings. The wood shows typical handling marks, scratches, and finish wear consistent with its age and service history.
The metal surfaces retain a military-style parkerized finish with scattered wear and patina. The Underwood barrel is clearly marked 11-43, and the bore is reported to be in good condition.
The rifle includes a detachable box magazine and a khaki-colored web sling.
