Winchester Model 1873 2nd Model Lever-Action Rifle – .44 WCF – Manufactured 1879

Early Second Model Winchester 1873 rifle in original .44 WCF (.44-40). Serial 38979 dates to 1879 production. Second Models are identified by the separate screwed-on dust-cover rail on the receiver.

Standard rifle configuration with octagon barrel, full-length magazine tube, walnut straight-grip stock, and crescent steel buttplate. Original-style iron sights and brass cartridge lifter. Metal shows an even brown-gray patina with honest wear. Wood is solid with a pleasing original-appearing finish and typical handling marks. Bore is good and still shootable.

A classic “Gun that Won the West” in the original caliber and original configuration. Antique firearm.
