Offered here is an original Winchester Model 1887 lever-action shotgun chambered in 12 gauge with a 30-inch barrel. Designed by John M. Browning, the Model 1887 is one of Winchester’s most recognizable early repeating shotguns and remains highly desirable with collectors.

This example is in honest, aged condition with an attractive dark patina across the receiver, barrel, and magazine tube. The shotgun is functional, and the metal and wood show the expected wear from many decades of use.

The most important condition issue is the buttstock/pistol-grip area, which is substantially cracked/broken and has an old repair or reinforcement visible around the wrist. The buttstock should be considered in need of professional repair or replacement. The forearm remains present and shows normal age and handling wear.

  • Manufacturer: Winchester Repeating Arms
  • Model: 1887
  • Gauge: 12 Gauge
  • Action: Lever-action repeating shotgun
  • Barrel length: 30 inches
  • Tubular magazine
  • Walnut stock and forearm

The Winchester 1887 has a strong following among Winchester collectors, Old West firearms enthusiasts, and Browning-design collectors. Even with the damaged stock, this is a complete-looking and very displayable original 1887 that would make an excellent restoration candidate.
