Original Winchester Model 1895 saddle ring carbine chambered in .30 Army (.30-40 Krag), manufactured in 1914. Serial number 86781.

This historic Winchester lever-action carbine remains in its original military-style configuration, featuring the saddle ring, full-length wooden forearm, barrel band, military-style rear sight, and original walnut stock.

The Model 1895 was designed by John Moses Browning and represented a major advancement in Winchester lever-action rifles, utilizing a box magazine that accommodated the pointed cartridges of the smokeless powder era. The .30 Army chambering was particularly popular during the early production years and was closely associated with American military firearms of the period.

This example displays considerable honest wear consistent with its age and use. The metal surfaces have lost the majority of their original bluing, showing a gray patina with scattered oxidation and pitting throughout. The walnut furniture exhibits numerous handling marks, scratches, and dents but remains solid, with no breaks or looseness.

The bore retains visible rifling. The action operates properly and locks up tightly. Original Winchester barrel markings, model designation, caliber markings, and patent information remain visible.

A desirable original Winchester Model 1895 saddle ring carbine with more than a century of history. These early Winchester carbines are increasingly sought after by collectors of American military and sporting firearms.
