Offered here is a classic Winchester Model 1897 pump-action shotgun in 12 gauge, one of the most iconic repeating shotguns ever produced in the United States.

Designed by legendary firearms inventor John Moses Browning, the Model 1897 (often referred to as the “Model 97”) was introduced by Winchester in 1897 as an improvement of the earlier Model 1893 design. The shotgun quickly became one of the most successful pump-action shotguns of its era and remained in production until 1957, with over one million manufactured.

The Model 1897 is easily recognized by its external hammer, exposed bolt, and distinctive slide-action design, which allowed rapid follow-up shots and reliable function in the field. These shotguns saw extensive civilian use for hunting and sporting purposes and also gained fame during military service in World War I, World War II, and Korea.

This example was manufactured in 1907, placing it among the early production years of the model. It retains the classic blued steel finish, tubular magazine, and ribbed wooden forearm, all characteristic of the early sporting configurations.

The barrel on this example has been professionally cut to approximately 22 inches, resulting in a shorter and handier configuration while maintaining the original character of the shotgun.

Features include:

• Winchester Model 1897 pump-action shotgun

• 12 gauge chambering

• Manufactured in 1907

• Designed by John Moses Browning

Condition shows honest age and handling wear consistent with a working early 20th-century sporting shotgun. The metal surfaces display an attractive aged patina and the wood furniture remains solid with typical handling marks.

The Winchester Model 1897 remains one of the most historically important American shotguns and is highly collectible among enthusiasts of early repeating firearms and Winchester products.
