WWI-era “Police Special” Whistle w/Finger Ring
WWI-era “Police Special” Whistle w/Finger Ring
Offered here is a WWI-era style “Police Special” metal whistle, of the type used by police, guards, and military personnel in the early 20th century.
This example features the classic flat rectangular “general service” pattern, commonly issued during the World War I through interwar period, and widely used by police forces, prison guards, and military NCOs for signaling.
The whistle retains traces of its original cream/white painted finish, now showing heavy, honest wear from age and use. A faint stamped marking (appears to read “POL…” / “POLICE SPECIAL”) is visible on the body, supporting its likely law enforcement or official service use.
Features:
- Early 20th century general service whistle pattern
- Likely WWI to 1920s era
- Painted metal construction (original finish present)
- Integrated key ring / belt loop attachment
- Pealess slot design for sharp, loud tone
Condition:
Good original condition with heavy paint loss, oxidation, and wear consistent with age and field use. No major damage—fully intact and displayable.
