WWI German M1916 Stahlhelm Helmet w/ Original Liner (c. 1916-1918)
WWI German M1916 Stahlhelm Helmet w/ Original Liner (c. 1916-1918)
Offered here is an original World War I German M1916 Stahlhelm combat helmet, the first generation of Germany’s iconic steel helmet introduced in 1916.
This helmet features the classic M16 design, including the large side vent lugs used for attaching additional armor plating and the deep skirted shell profile characteristic of early war production.
The interior retains its original liner band and leather liner, which is present but shows age-related wear and dryness. The helmet remains structurally solid and displays well.
The exterior shows heavy patina, oxidation, and honest field wear consistent with age and service use. Traces of original field gray paint remain visible.
A German-style eagle decal is present on the front; however, this is believed to be a later addition and is not considered original to the helmet.
This helmet has not been restored and remains in as-found condition, making it a desirable example for collectors of Imperial German militaria.
Condition:
- Original WWI shell
- Original liner band and leather liner (worn)
- Heavy patina and surface oxidation
- No chinstrap present
- Structurally solid
