WWII 1943 TM 11-454 Radio Operator Manual + 1953 Radiotelegraph Operation Manual Lot
WWII 1943 TM 11-454 Radio Operator Manual + 1953 Radiotelegraph Operation Manual Lot
Lot of two original U.S. military radio operator technical manuals spanning WWII and the early Cold War/Korean War era.
The first is War Department Technical Manual TM 11-454, “The Radio Operator,” dated May 12, 1943. The cover specifically states that this example is a wartime reprint for stock of the May 12, 1943 edition. The title page indicates U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington: 1947. It retains the prominent RESTRICTED markings. This manual covers training and procedures for military radio operators.
The second is TM 11-454 / Air Force Technical Order TO 16-1-110, “Radiotelegraph Operation,” August 1953, jointly issued by the Departments of the Army and Air Force. It is also prominently marked RESTRICTED – Security Information and represents the later development of military radiotelegraph/operator training.
Both appear to be genuine period U.S. government publications. The 1953 example shows noticeable age spotting/foxing, toning and handling wear. The 1943-edition/1947-print manual has age toning, cover wear and staining. Please review photos for condition.
This is an excellent comparison pair showing the development of U.S. military radio-operator training from WWII into the early Cold War period.
