WWII Bendix Radio Type MN-52J Aircraft Azimuth Control Unit

Original WWII-era Bendix Radio Type MN-52J azimuth control unit used with Bendix aircraft radio-direction-finding equipment. This unit controlled the position of an MN-20 or MN-24 rotatable loop antenna used with systems such as the Bendix MN-26 radio compass and RA-10 receiver, which were installed aboard various U.S. Army Air Forces and U.S. Navy bomber and transport aircraft.

Features a large 360-degree Bendix Radio azimuth dial, manual antenna-control crank, antenna control switch and instrument-light switch. Face is marked “Set to 0 for Homing—Set to 90 for Rain Static.” Data plate identifies it as Type MN-52J with a weight of 14.3 ounces. Displays honest service and storage wear, including scratches, paint loss, dust and discoloration to the dial lens. Controls appear substantially complete, but the unit has not been electrically tested and is sold as a collectible aircraft component.
