Original WWII-era Switch Box for Gyro Flux Gate Compass system, manufactured by Bendix Aviation Corporation / Eclipse-Pioneer Division, Teterboro, New Jersey. Marked for use with the AN-5751 gyro flux gate compass system and specifically marked “Caution – Use Only With AN-5751-2 Caging Motor.”
Front panel is marked “To Erect Gyro” with red indicator light and push-button control. Instructions state to operate the gyro motor for 5 minutes, hold the push button until the red light is on, then release; erecting cycle is complete when the red light goes out. This would have been part of the aircraft compass/navigation system control setup.
Good WWII aircraft instrument/navigation accessory piece, especially useful to pair with a Bendix/Pioneer gyro flux gate compass transmitter. Shows age, dust, finish wear, and storage wear as shown. Untested and sold as collectible aircraft electronics equipment.
