WWII-era U.S. Navy aircraft radar/radio unit marked RT-7/APN-1
Original WWII-era U.S. Navy aircraft radar/radio unit marked RT-7/APN-1, 27 volts DC. This was part of the AN/APN-1 radar altimeter system, used in aircraft to measure altitude above terrain/water by radio/radar signal. The front panel includes marked connections for transmitter antenna, receiver antenna, automatic pilot, calibration adjustments, limit switch, limit indicator, indicator, battery input, spare fuse, and 3 amp fuse.
The unit retains its original black wrinkle-finish face, red protective caps, data plates, high-voltage warning label, side handles, and lower aluminum mounting tray/rail assembly. The calibration plate remains present and shows equipment serial and altitude/alignment information, adding great display and collector value.
A strong WWII aviation electronics piece for collectors of aircraft radar, Navy electronics, radar altimeters, APN equipment, cockpit/aircraft restoration, museum display, or parts.
Condition: Vintage surplus condition. Untested and sold as-is. Shows age, paint wear, scratches, oxidation, scuffs, and storage marks. High-voltage equipment; should only be serviced or powered by qualified personnel.
