WWII German Luftschutz Gladiator Helmet – Decal – Size 54 – Original Finish

Offered here is an original WWII German Luftschutz (Air Raid Protection) “Gladiator” style helmet, used by German civil defense personnel during the Second World War.

These helmets were issued to Luftschutz wardens and civilian defense units responsible for air raid response, firefighting, and rescue operations during Allied bombing raids across Germany.

This example retains its original dark blue factory finish with the Luftschutz winged decal to the front, which remains visible with some wear. The helmet shows honest service wear including scratches and handling marks, giving it a very authentic wartime appearance.

The interior retains the original Luftschutz approval label reading:

“Vertrieb genehmigt gemäß § 8 Luftschutzgesetz”

The helmet is marked Kopfweite 54 (size 54) and bears the production code RL2-38/29, a standard Luftschutz manufacturing designation.

The original chinstrap remains present, while the leather liner has largely deteriorated with age, which is commonly seen on these helmets after decades of storage.

Despite the liner wear, the helmet displays very well and remains a solid original example of a WWII German civil defense helmet.
