Offered is an original WWII German War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern), complete with period-style suspension ribbon.
Instituted in 1939, the War Merit Cross with Swords was awarded to military personnel for meritorious wartime service performed under combat-related conditions that did not meet the requirements for the Iron Cross. The crossed swords device distinguishes it from the non-combat version.
The medal features:
- Central swastika device on the obverse
- Date “1939” on the reverse
- Crossed swords between the arms of the cross
- Bronze-toned finish
- Correct red, white, black, white, red ribbon pattern
- Original suspension ring
