WWII German Wehrmacht Feldpost Letter & Envelope-April 1942-“Geisla”

Original World War II German military Feldpost letter with its matching wartime envelope, dated April 15, 1942, and mailed through the German military postal system the following day, April 16, 1942.

The envelope is particularly attractive, retaining a prominent blue Wehrmacht military unit cachet featuring the German eagle and swastika, along with a clearly dated circular Feldpost cancellation. The reverse retains handwritten sender information identifying the serviceman by rank/unit notation.

Inside is the original multi-page handwritten letter, written in period German script and addressed to a woman named Gisela. The correspondence is largely personal in nature, discussing receiving mail from home, acquaintances and events back home, the writer’s current circumstances, and his thoughts of home while away in military service. He expresses how important letters from home are to him and sends affectionate greetings.

A very evocative piece of original WWII history that has remained together as a complete letter-and-envelope set for more than 80 years. The combination of the lengthy handwritten correspondence, matching dated Feldpost envelope, military cancellation, and highly visible Wehrmacht eagle cachet makes this considerably more displayable than a loose Feldpost letter.
