Offered is an original WWII German West Wall Medal (Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen), commonly known to collectors as the West Wall Medal, complete with its original issue ribbon and original paper packet.
Instituted in 1939, the West Wall Medal was awarded to military personnel and civilian workers who participated in the construction and defense of Germany’s West Wall fortifications, known to the Allies as the Siegfried Line. The obverse features the national eagle above a bunker, crossed sword and shovel motif, while the reverse bears the inscription:
“Für Arbeit zum Schutze Deutschlands”
(“For Work in the Defense of Germany”)
Included is the original titled packet marked “Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen” with the retailer’s imprint Carl Poellath, Schrobenhausen, a well-known German medal manufacturer and supplier.

- Original orange and white ribbon
- Original titled paper packet included
- Bronze-finished zinc construction
- Obverse features eagle, bunker, sword, and shovel
