Inland Manufacturing Division – General Motors
Caliber .30 Carbine | 1944 Production
Original U.S. WWII M1 Carbine manufactured by Inland Manufacturing Division of General Motors, the largest wartime producer of carbines during World War II. Inland-produced carbines saw extensive service across all theaters and remain the most historically representative example of the U.S. Carbine program.
This example retains a correct WWII-era configuration, featuring:
- Inland-marked barrel dated 1-44
- Type II / III features consistent with mid- to late-war rebuild standards
- Adjustable rear sight
- Push-button / early style safety (as shown)
- Correct WWII walnut stock with proper wear and handling marks
- WWII canvas sling and oiler present
Metal shows an even, honest parkerized finish with expected service wear. Stock displays original finish with scattered dings and handling marks consistent with wartime use—no sanding or modern refinishing observed.
The bore appears strong with good rifling, and the action functions correctly. This carbine presents exactly as a combat-used WWII service arm, not a modern rebuild or commercial restoration.
Condition
- Mechanically sound
- Strong bore
- Honest WWII wear throughout
- Excellent display or shooter-grade example
Notes
A solid, no-nonsense WWII Inland carbine ideal for collectors seeking an authentic U.S. service rifle with correct wartime character rather than a refinish or postwar mixmaster.
